Growing Against All Odds

Growing Against all odds
Still growing

Life nowadays feels like we have to keep growing against all odds; growing in the middle of pandemic, growing in the middle of crisis, growing in the middle of happiness. Yes. This is what we live by everyday. How do we cope up with this fast-paced world while keeping our sanity?

I saw this plant growing out of a drainage one morning while I was walking in our neighborhoods. It caught my attention because I couldn’t imagine how it happened. It also reminded me to keep growing. Even in the worst (stinkiest?) situation you are in.

If this plant did its best to search for light outside where it was, then we could do it too.

Grow against all odds by making an effort to be better

We often want to be spiritually fed by our leaders and pastors, but there would be times when they are not available and that is why we should also keep seeking God directly for leading and growth. Depending alone on others for our spiritual growth will not help us.  We also need to exert an effort to help ourselves. Grow in the knowledge of God. If it is about your work, learn more about your work. Learn something advanced or discover something new.

Grow against all odds by avoiding the blame game

Sometimes as Christians, when we have been stagnant in our spiritual lives, we tend to blame the church, our leaders, the church programs, and other people why we have been stagnant. “They stumble me by what they do,” or “I don’t see them actively commit to what needs to be done.”

Do you feel like you are in the middle of a tough situation? Remember to keep growing against all odds and grow better, not bitter.

The truth is that there’s no other person who can help us grow in our relationship with God than ourselves. We have to decide for ourselves today that we will do something  about our situation.

You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. 2 Peter 3:17-18
