Easy Chicken Katsu Recipe (Tori Katsu) Coated with Cornflakes

by Gilian, in category Food, Recipes
How To Make Chicken Katsu

This Chicken Katsu recipe or Tori Katsu is always one of my go-to when I’m in a Japanese restaurant. I like its fried, crispy, a little salty taste, plus, the dip which is usually a teriyaki sauce or something close to that. Lately, I’ve been craving for it but I lack one ingredient which is… Read More

Seasoned Seaweeds

by Gilian, in category Food, Thoughts

Most people are probably not aware that there’s a snack pack for roasted or seasoned seaweeds because we just see the big nori that cover the sushi rolls I saw this first in Robinson’s supermarket 4 years ago and I loved it ever since. There are different ways that I use it. SOUP I add… Read More

Laban and Mint Drink in Less Than One Minute

by Gilian, in category Food

My kids love drinking laban/yougurt drink. I, however, had difficulty drinking it plain. It tasted like spoiled sour milk for me so I thought of a way on how to drink. My husband asked me to taste a laban mint mixture he made with a little sugar and I loved it from that time on.… Read More

Easy Chocolate Crinkles

by Gilian, in category Food, Recipes

I used to have a hard time making crinkles. Now, everything seems easy. Maybe because I also included the kids in making it so it felt easy. I just prepared all the ingredients, and they did all the mixing. Got this recipe from Simply Recipes, but I tweaked it a little to suit my tolerance for… Read More

Eggless Chocolate Chip Cookies (with Oats)

by Gilian, in category Food, Recipes

Yes. You read it right. No eggs. It sounds impossible to bake without eggs, but it really isn’t. 🤔 Why did I bake without eggs? You may ask. Simply because I ran out of eggs. 😉 Unlike in the Philippines where I could just go out and buy from the sari-sari stores in the neighborhood,… Read More

Noodles & Expat Life

by Gilian, in category Blogging, Family, Food, Jeddah, Philippines, Photography, Recipes, Reflections, Thoughts, Words

Yesterday,  I feasted with this Filipino-style chicken soup noodles with friends. In the Philippines,  it’s called chicken/beef mami. 🙂 Suddenly felt home. The bowl is usually stuffed with cooked noodles,  carrots, Chinese cabbage, spring onions,  toasted garlic, chicken/beef and egg. Beef or chicken soup is just added later on. Chicken mami recipe by Panlasang Pinoy… Read More

I love shrimps and incorporating it in rice makes me eat more. This shrimp fried rice is so easy to make. As much as possible, I always have prepared carrots, garlic, and spring onion so I can make fried rice anytime. I can just add hotdogs, chicken, or any available topping I want. Having prepared… Read More

Easy Southwest Potato Twisters

by Gilian, in category Food, Jeddah, Recipes, Wonders

This recipe is inspired by TGIF’s Southwest Potato Twisters. I have been really craving for Friday’s Southwest Potato Twisters lately, and thinking about the ingredients made me “feel” that it’s quite easy to do at home.  =) So I decided to just make one since I have most of the ingredients that could make it… Read More

Hello Kitty Cupcakes

by Gilian, in category Cupcakes, Food, Recipes, Women

I made these cute Hello Kitty cupcakes for a girl who celebrated her 5th birthday yesterday. I’m happy that the cupcakes look cute and the frosting did not melt. This is the hardest part because the high temperature in Jeddah caused some of my cupcakes to melt before especially when placed outdoors. Butter cream cheese frosting… Read More
